Come and spend a day making a woven wall hanging, hosted by interior stylist ROSWOW.
Weaving is a very addictive craft. The rhythm you can get into when weaving is a great way to unwind and process the day and thoughts. Woven wall hangings are also a big trend in the interiors world right now and an easy way to apply textured, tactile textiles onto your walls. Not only can they be elegant and bring character to an adult home, they are also a perfect decorative item for a baby or child’s room.
This one day weaving workshop is designed for both beginners and intermediates. It is aimed at those who have never woven before and want to give themselves a day to explore the art, whilst also for those who have either already attended a beginners workshop or have taught themselves and would like to brush up and advance their skills.
In this workshop I will teach you how to make your own woven wall hanging. With the luxury of having a day, you will have time to learn how to dress an intermediate loom, learn beginner techniques of weaving, half hitch and Rya knots, twining and playing with texture. With the added option to later move onto exploring how to weave shapes and mixing colour. There will be a range of colours and textured yarns to experiment with so that when you leave you will be more educated as to what yarns to buy, where and how to use them.
Please either bring a packed lunch or grab a bite to eat at the lovely Oak Street Cafe situated within the craft center which also gives us the time to get to know one another!
This workshop will give you the skills to understand weaving so you can design your own piece and weave it whilst at the same time having lots of fun with like minded people. You will go home with your hand-woven wall hanging ready to hang at home and make your walls Instagram worthy! If you fall in love with weaving then you also have the option of buying your loom at the end of the day, which comes with my beginners guide on how to set up and weave at home!
